Website Ideas
Are you a bit perplexed and confused about what it takes to create website content, and come up with website ideas that will appeal to both human beings AND the all important robotic Search Engines that will be ranking your website? If so, you are not alone. Unless you have had training and experience in SEO, you simply cannot and will not. But here is the good news, Criddle and Company LLC will guide you all the way through the process—we will help you build a website that has a strong foundation in both the technical and aesthetic aspects that both people and Search Engines (SEs) are looking for. But before we go into that, it sometimes helps to understand what a website should not be—in other words, when you make a website, you will want to avoid some of the following pitfalls by using quality website software and hiring a company that specializes in writing content not only for Search Engines, but also for the people who will be using the site…

Build Website
Instead of making a top ten list, let’s simply focus on the most common errors that are out there en masse today. Website ideas are, to a certain degree, an artistic expression, but one will want to stay away from:
-
Don’t create website content with poor usability. In other words, make sure your text is free of typographical errors, special characters (they can interfere with a the ability of a Search Engine to read your keywords), using file sizes that are too large: i.e. images, video, extraneous code, etc. These all make it difficult for people and Search Engines to read your site—which will result in a less than desirable page rank.
-
Online users cannot stand reading PDF files when browsing—so do not create website content or build website structure that contains this kind of “flow breaking” junk (it’s junk to the SEs, so it should be considered junk to you). This format should be reserved for what is was designed for : paper and printing; because it seldom ever fits well in the user’s browser window.
-
If you make a website that does not answer your users’ questions, you are really starting yourself off in a hole. This is a common problem we see, even by experienced website designers. Many are unable, or incapable of understanding their client’s business; therefore, they are unable to build website content that is useful to the end user. When content is not useful to the end user, the website is considered less authoritative by the Search Engine, and is penalized in the rankings. Do not let this happen to you! Make sure you are actively involved in the decision making process when it comes to website ideas—to do otherwise is a poor investment of your online time and budget.
-
Avoid a fixed font size if you create website yourself, or if you are involved in the web design process with your designer. If many of your customers are over the age of forty, they will have a hard time reading small font—so you will need to build website font sizes to accommodate them too…that is if you are a detail oriented person, and you truly want to win with your online advertising campaign. Ignore these small details at your own peril, but it all comes down to #1 above: usability is key to making your web site authoritative and popular (meaning others will want to link to you, which will increase your search rankings).
-
Stay away from content that looks (or reads) like an Ad. Keep in mind that when you make a website, and construct website content, it is supremely important to focus the users attention directly on what you are attempting to sell AND how your product will benefit the user. One of the most common errors in advertising is attempting to “show off” the product or service, instead of showing off the benefit, of the product and/or service to the user. The user only cares about one thing: how will investing in this product or service improve my quality of life and/or help me make more money.
